I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

That's so disheartening... but too many times true

Little help and poor training is exactly spot-on, add to that - really poor communication. My son was diagnosed at 8 years old as having a SLD, if it weren't for the fact that I did my own exhaustive research I would not have known what type of questions to ask at EIP meetings and during the school year - or how to spot the red-flags. A lot more can be done for parents with Special Education needs children - not enough. Teachers need to be paid better salaries and, ALL teachers, not just special ed teachers should be obliged to attend a course on how to properly manage kids with learning disabilities.
